If you squint hard enough, it’s definitely still Saturday. Time is a social construct anyway, right? Either way, welcome to my Saturday Roundup (on a Sunday). Let’s just pretend the week hasn’t rolled over yet, and no one will notice.
Wow. I didn’t do too well last week — I overslept every day and didn’t get a chance to write a single thing. So here I am now, writing this on my phone while stuck in traffic. Welcome to the Saturday Roundup (on a Sunday).
Vaccines and Energy Levels
The kids had a doctor’s appointment, and by some miracle, they’re all up to date on their vaccines. I was happier than they were. Then the doctor suggested they all get blood tests, and I spent a solid 10 minutes trying to convince B to do it.
Mothers with older kids: do you still have the energy? Energy to argue, cajole, convince, or hold them down and force them to comply?
At one point, I said to him, “I’ll bribe you with whatever you want.” This made K look at me wide-eyed because he had just finished patiently explaining to B how blood tests are easy, painless, and important.
But B didn’t care about logic. Or bribes.
His reply? “I want a PS5 or a Lamborghini.”
At that point, I decided I was done. I lied and told him our time slot had passed (it hadn’t) and said we’d have to do it next week instead (where I think I can see my patience and energy waiting for me). He promised he’d do it then. I added, “Okay, but promise me no shouting, crying, or fussing,” and he responded with:
“I don’t know what I’m going to do. That’s in the future! I can’t tell the future!”
And honestly? I’m tired. So, we just went home.
A Highlight: Al-Samhania

The highlight of the week was visiting Al-Samhania in Diriyah. It was lovely walking around, exploring all the cafes and small boutiques. I finally got to see Bonjour Saudi, which I’ve been following on Instagram for ages.
We also visited Bait Al-Dhiyafa, where they hold workshops and classes. They even have a nuzul (guesthouse), but it was fully booked, so we couldn’t go inside. Still, the whole area was beautiful and worth visiting. And it’s a short walk from there to Bujairi Terrace which currently has an incredible Exhibition called Alimam Turki bin Abdullah celebrating 200 years since the founding of the second Saudi State
Family Time
My sisters are here! December is birthday month for us, and it’s one of the rare times we’re usually all in the same place. Though my brother decided to be unsocial and left the day my sisters arrived. We’re not reading too much into that. (Let’s see if he reads this post.)
A Busy (and Epic) Saturday

Today has been epic. It’s 7:45 p.m., and I’ve already done four things — and I’m on my way to the fifth!
1. Morning Walk in the DQ
I started my day walking in the DQ (Diplomatic Quarter) with a stop at Joe and the Juice where I passed on the ginger shot but gulped down a much-needed coffee. We walked for about 70 minutes (specific because my friend was tracking it).

Next, we went to the opening of Fareen’s sit-down dining area. If you want the best pastries and baked goods Fareen has consistently been amongst the yummiest out there. I highly suggest you go see their new set up. Three words: grilled cheese croissant. You’re welcome.
3. Pressotherapy at Tonic The Method
Have you tried pressotherapy? It’s basically getting into a body suit that inflates and deflates from your feet upward, applying pressure to your legs. It’s like strong, rhythmic hugs for your legs. I immediately felt less bloated and it was amazing after the long walk.
Im on a mission to try everything there. Normally, we do hot and cold therapy on Saturdays, but we decided to try something new. Not my last time, for sure.
4. Saturday Brunch with the Siblings
Brunch with my siblings was a blast, and now I’m on my way to my mom’s for dinner.
Oh, and I’m wearing eyeliner, mascara, and an actual dress — not sweats. Bravo, me.
Wrapping Up
It’s been a beautiful and full week, الحمد لله. I’m looking forward to my bed tonight, where I’ll properly edit this post and add pictures.
I know I did my Wednesday Waffle on a Saturday, so it’s only fair I do my Saturday Roundup on a Sunday, right? I’ll allow it.
Oh wait! Books! I have been obsessively listening to Chers memoir which is such a good listen! She narrates parts along wiht a friend of hers and while I would have loved to listen to just her it surprisingly is not annoying. In fact I am enjoying both. My tiktok is now all Cher from the 70’s.
How was your week? Anything in my roundup you want me to elaborate on in a future post? Let me know!
